Liquor license

We have the license.

We are waiting for the cooler … which is coming on Mexican time. 

So we have a selection of beers … and chilled mugs from the freezer.

And wine by the glass or bottle … or bring your own favorite. 

Corkage fee is handled similar to a tip.  Leave what you feel is appropriate. 

We do this so you can enjoy an excellent experience at a price that lets you come as often as you like .

Holiday scheduling

Denver’s Olivo Verde will be open normal hours ... except:

Party Friday, 20 December.  There will be take out only after 6:00 as we have a party booked.  We may be a bit busy but we are happy to accommodate you. 

Closed 25 December as it is not only Christmas, but it is the Chef’s birthday! 

Our rule #1  ...  Spoil the chef ... so he can spoil you!!!

Liquor license and Zuppa Toscana

We are so very happy to announce we now have our liquor license.  
So it is beer ... house wine  or BYOW if you have a personal preference. 

And to warm your winter days ... Zuppa Toscana ... that steamy, creamy Italian sausage and potato soup.  

The site has been updated to include pictures of our daily specials. 

We are Gourmet Italiano Take Away ... with some chill out seating.  

Seating is both indoors ... and our street side tables are once again “street legal”.

Guest Chef! night . Fall menu


Denver’s Olivo Verde has some new things 


A fall menu ... and some fun cooking experiences 



Guest Chef! night ...



Monday evenings Olivo Verde will host ... Guest Chef! night.  4:30 to 6:30 or so.

The Chef! of the evening will host a demonstration.  After the fun of watching ...  we will all enjoy eating what is cooked. 

This Monday, the 28th, the chef is Denver himself and he will demonstrate Fettuccine Alfredo and stuffed mushrooms.   It is at 4:30, costs 150 pesos and advance reservations are recommended.   (Stop by the restaurant ... or by return email.)

Monday, 4 November, it is RICO! prom for Sicily 3 courses, 2 glasses of wine, 250 pesos.   RICO! is Regional Italian Cooking and offers classes at three levels.  RICO! 101 is Italian cooking fundamentals and was held on the 14th and 21st.   RICO!-Pro is an advanced class, offering a 5 course meals with selected wines.   It is taught by Daina Jasmine Ventura, a very knowledgeable  Italian cook who brings all the experience of her youth, her career working with an Italian Regional Cooking Academy, and her travels ... plus special Italian ingredients ...  to you.  Full details are found at RICO-SMA.com

Any chef wishing to host a night can contact us for details.  Ethnic nights are very welcome. 


Fall Menu

Grilled Veggies are happily still with us for a while. A grilled bell pepper ... stuffed with a selection of marinated and grilled veggies smothered in your choice of sauce ... and parmesan cheese.  Accompanied by marinated, then ever so lightly toasted herbs when available.

The mini version, clustered in a buffet,  is a popular easy-on-the-hostess addition for a party. 



And with the cooler weather ... warming soups are happening.   Pasta e fagoli.  Minestrone.  

And polenta.  Lovely, golden, corny, comforting and fortifying.  We are playing with variations as I type. 



We have begun catering.  Hot, gourmet Italian meals every 90 seconds.

Changed name and look ... delivery ... veggies ... catering

Different look 

We are the same ... it just doesn't look like it. 

Shifting licensing requirements have changed some things ... perhaps just for now. 

Our name is now ... Oliva Verde.  Green Olive in Español.  And minus Denver's which has no spanish equivalent. 

There is no longer a table and umbrella outside.   Rather the door is framed with a dark green "scarf" which billows in the breeze.  

If it is Wednesday thru Saturday, noon to 8:00 ... we are open. 

Delivery 

You can now have your comida delivered any time between noon and 8:00 or so.  Just call in your order and for 25 pesos it is delivered to your door.    415 . 150 . 0239

So if your order is, say, a large order of pasta at 60 pesos, delivered would be 85 pesos.  Pasta and salad, at 40 additional pesos, would be a total of 125.

Take away ... and eat in while chilling out ... remains. 

Gourmet Italiano Take away ... and Catering

It's your party ... so relax. Have us do your dinner while you enjoy with your guests. 

If it is for just a few, call and have it delivered. 

If you need a whole lasagne, perhaps something exotic, call a couple days in advance ... discuss what you want ... and have it delivered when you need it. 

If it is for a fiesta, then we can come and cater ... alone or as part of a larger offering ... involving additional chefs.  

Veggie options

Finally everyone can enjoy.  Even those on special or just greener diets. 

Starting next week we will be offering grilled, marinated veggies ...  with a side of either pasta ... or ... salad. 

Yesterday we did Eggplant Parmesan without the usual breading, instead with just parmesan cheese for a carb free diet. 

Just let us know your needs and we will work with you to accommodate it. 

The veggies take longer.  Perhaps 10 minutes.  And well worth it.

Extended hours . new phone . new drink . catering . classes

We are realizing more and more what we are

New hours

We are open the same 4 days ... Wednesday thru Saturday 

And now every evening ... from noon to around 8:00 pm

Our dedicated phone is now operating ... 415.107.9947

This is best used for our free local deliveries within a block or so of the restaurant.  We are currently exploring a pueblo wide delivery service and should offer that soon.  

You might also want to call ahead and see how busy we are if you want to eat in. 

It is pointless to order take away ahead ... as meals are prepared so quickly.


New drink

We have begun our line of designed drinks ... cooling ones for late summer.

The first is sun tea.  You can have it plain and it is quite delicious. 

However, it is at it's best with Spice Cubes. 

This week try honey-ginger-lime ice cubes.  The cube slowly melts, infusing the mild mannered tea with fragrance and flavor.  

We call this combination Medici Tea ... because of the medici-nal qualities of the honey, ginger and lime. 

It can be further sweetened if you like with mascabado sugar, artificial sweetener or stevia. 

A mug of iced tea is 20 pesos 
With Spice Cubes ... 25 pesos 
A jug of iced tea is 30 pesos 
With Spice Cubes ... 40 pesos 


Catering

Someone asked and we were delighted they did.  Our first gig is in a couple of weeks ... for 60 people ... under the big white tent. 


Cooking classes 

This is in the very early planning stages and should be offered later this year. 

It will feature a series of classes, each one focused on a specific area of Italy.   

The foods prepared will be suited to the weather.  So the first ones will be for warmer weather, and the later ones for cooler weather. 

After preparing the meal we will all sit down and enjoy it together. 

The class are intentionally kept small ... 5 or 6 people ... so every one has a chance to learn fully.

Denver Unleashed: Squash Blossom Lasagne


Starting today ... . Squash Blossom Lasagne ... while it lasts ... with more to follow during blossom season. 

We are deeply appreciative of the community support ... and want to return the favor ... both by increasing the menu to include your favorites and requests ... and by enhancing the ambiance. 

MEATBALLS::  So we have added meatballs.  One cool customer said that is all he will ever order (but we don’t believe him).  (80 pesos)

LASAGNE::  regular with red meat sauce and spinach with béchamel (white) sauce.  Another delightful customer, the first to try the spinach, liked it so much she took half of what we made home with her.  (80 pesos per serving)  (P.S.  As much as possible what you enjoy is home made ... meaning we even make the ricotta cheese.)

EGGPLANT PARMESAN::  Served with a small pasta included. 

SALAD SUPREME::   Starting next week we offer a large salad of organic mixed greens, red onions, black olives, croutons, tomatoes, parmesan ... our own home made Italian dressing ... and pepperoncini.   (The big hold up is ... finding the pepperoncini ... so any and all suggestions by email are very welcome.)

DENVER UNLEASHED::   Each week we are fulfilling some foodies dream.  Either Denver remembers something he used to cook ... or we take a customer request.   Whatever, it is off menu land.  (P.S.  Requests can be posted on the refer, posted to our web site ...  and you can add to that or vote for whatever is already there.)

PRIVATE ORDRS::   With two days notice we will fix you anything.  So if you want, say, a squash blossom lasagne for your next party, give us a call. And Denver is a true international chef. meaning, he gets out of the Italian box now and again. 

WHAT WE ARE::  We are take away ... with some seating.   Seriously Italian and  Seriously Fast.  

We don’t pretend to be a full service restaurant.... though we will serve you when we can.   If there is space you are welcome to linger for a while and enjoy the show.  We currently have 12 chairs and later will expand to include an inner courtyard.  We are charting our busy times and will post it on the website so you can come at quiet times if you like. 

SERIOUSLY FAST::   Depending on how busy we are, it can be as fast as 3 minutes.  And, yes, one guy sat there with a timer ... and laughed as he was handed his piping hot order in less than the 3 advertised minutes. 

AMBIENCE::  Each week we do something to make the experience more enjoyable.  We got indoor seating at comfortable tables and chairs.  More plants.  Better lighting.  Different arrangement so the traffic flow is better ... and calmer.  This week we will have a dedicated phone line.  We built an interactive web site.

Denver's Grill

Starting tonight ... Friday 2 August ... Denver will be open from 11:00 thru the evening on Friday and Saturday. 

We still have the pasta ... eggplant ... lasagna ... 

Plus on Friday and Saturday evenings ... we will now have a grill ... a bar.b.q ... and will begin with hamburgers.

Denver starts with a burger hand crafted by a top chef.  

Then your choice of cheese ::   Cheddar ... Swiss ... Jack ... or Monterey Jack 

Pickles ... tomato ... onion ... mayo ... lettuce 

Choice of three mustards 

Take away ... or eat in.

Since tonight is brand new ... details are still revealing themselves to us.

So for the first week or so it is a good idea to call in advance to make sure we can serve you.  After that we will have an idea of the full demand and can better anticipate your needs.

Eggplant, lasagne and gluten free ... phone number

We moved inside and have seating for 12 with more planned. 

You can spot us at #5 Calzada de Aurora between Fabrica Aurora and Pollo Feliz on the opposite of the street.  When we are open ... from 11 to 5 and usually later ... there is a black metal table with a creme umbrella out front. 

Eggplant Parmesan 

Starting Wednesday, 31 July,  in addition to our basic menu, we will be offering Eggplant Parmesan. 

Lasagna

On Friday, 2 August,  we will have Lasagna available. 

Gluten free pasta

And this week we will begin offering gluten free pasta.  This pasta, by Delalio, is imported from Italy and requires different handling.  It is cooked separately from the other pastas and immediately before serving.  

So if you choose to order after you arrive, then know it will take longer than our usual seriously fast meals.  If you want to give us a heads up, you can call in advance and we will begin to get ready for you. 

These pastas are an additional 20 (small) or 30 (large) pesos.

Probably this week we will also add home delivery in keeping with the high standards you have come to expect.

What's happening

Move

We are moving inside. 

Next week ... 10 to 13 July ... we will have sit down seating in a garden restaurant atmosphere with the kitchen still in the tent.


The following week ... 17 to 20 July ... it will all be inside. 


Hours will remain the same for now.  This preserves the sanity of the staff. 


Denver Unleashed 

This change will allow Denver to begin creating specials ... lasagna, eggplant requests, all the many recipes his mind is mulling just now, things you've asked for ... which will be posted here.
